Making AHERI Hub usable, clear, and dignified for everyone who needs it. Support that some people cannot reach is not real support.
AHERI Hub exists so that students, youths and women can get support safely and privately.
We design AHERI Hub for people who are blind or have low vision, who are Deaf or hard of hearing, and who have physical, learning, intellectual or psychosocial disabilities, as well as people facing barriers such as poor internet, older phones or limited literacy.
This commitment supports the Discrimination Against Persons with Disabilities (Prohibition) Act 2018, the United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (which Nigeria has ratified), and Sustainable Development Goals 4 (Quality Education) and 10 (Reduced Inequalities).
We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (version 2.2) at Level AA, published by the W3C in October 2023. It is built on 4 simple ideas:
You can see or hear the content, for example through text descriptions of images and captions on videos.
You can use it in different ways, for example with a keyboard, a screen reader or voice control, and without time pressure.
The words are clear and simple, and the pages behave in a predictable way.
It works on different phones, browsers and assistive technology, including older devices.
To keep words readable for all eyes, we enforce a strict minimum contrast ratio of 4.5:1 for normal text:
| Colour | On White Background | How We Use It |
|---|---|---|
| Navy #043C6C | 11.2 to 1 (Passes) | Main text, headings, buttons |
| Deep navy #062B4D | 14.4 to 1 (Passes) | Body text and footers |
| Text orange #B84D00 | 5.1 to 1 (Passes) | Links and highlighted words |
| Deep teal #037F86 | 4.8 to 1 (Passes on white) | Headings on white backgrounds only |
| Orange #FC7C14 | 2.6 to 1 (Fails text) | Shapes, icons and large decorations only |
| Gold #FCAC04 | 1.9 to 1 (Fails text) | Decoration only. (Navy text on Gold passes at 5.9:1) |
